Overview
One of the most essential jobs in camp ministry is the Counselor Staff. Counselors accompany the campers 24/7 for the entire duration of a camper’s session. No one has more of an impact on a camper’s experience than their counselor.
Qualifications
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that demonstrates the Lordship of Christ and models servant spiritual leadership to the guests.
- Must possess a ministry-minded mentality when interacting with all of the campers of Eagle Sky and be willing to go beyond job descriptions to meet the needs of campers.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and able and willing to follow an exhausting weekly schedule yet flexible when needed.
- Experience working with children and teens in volunteer or work scenarios.
- Be able to effectively share the gospel with a child/teen by the end of orientation.
Responsibilities
- Have personal quiet time each day with the Lord
- Be with your campers at all times except when you have time off or are asked to be in charge of another camp activity.
- While serving as a counselor, focus your time and attention on your campers, eat meals with them, and be available during their free time to encourage them in their activities.
- Participate in chapel services and camp activities with energy and excitement for your campers.
- Lead small group and cabin discussion as needed
Age Requirement
Must be at least 18 years of age and one year removed from high school.
