POSITION TITLE: Director of Human Resources – Exempt Position

REPORTS TO: Executive Director – COO

POSITION SUMMARY: The Eagle Sky of the Ozarks (ESO) Director of Human Resources is responsible for coordinating all administrative activities related to ESO personnel, including developing recruitment strategies, evaluating and interviewing applicants for employment, implementing systems for managing staff benefits, payroll and behavior and onboarding new employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Overall:
  • Support the Mission Statement, Vision Statement, Core Values, and Statement of Faith of The Eagle Sky Foundation.
  • Incorporate the Eagle Sky culture and character development: Caring, Honesty, Trustworthiness, Respect, Fairness, Responsibility, and Accountability, and incorporate these character traits when interacting with applicants, the Board, Staff, Guests, and the Public.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all staff, including summer staff.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Musical Talents, vocal and/or instrumental, and willingness to participate in The Eagle Sky Worship Team are highly desirable. 
  1. Program Leadership and Management:
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding. 
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, and overseeing the implementation of all regulations and licensing.  
  • Ensure job descriptions are current and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Work with all ESO Directors to develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their jobs and responsibilities.
  • Ensure HR policies are applied consistently.
  • Create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy current.
  • Maintain ESO Organization charts and Employee Directory.
  • Maintain HR systems, files, and processes.
  • Knowledgeable of all Program areas.
  • Coordinate adequate staffing for all Programs and Activities.
  1. Supervision:
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all applicants.
  • Conduct Staff Training when appropriate.
  • Work with the Board, CEO, and Executive Director as necessary.
  1. Budget:
  • Work with the CEO, Executive Director, and CFO to develop an Annual Operating Budget for approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor staffing requirements and make recommendations to the CEO, Executive Director, and CFO.
  • Provide recommendations regarding salaries and benefits.
  1. Camp Promotion and Community Relations:
  • Involvement in the Design and implementation of a Marketing Program.
  • Involvement in the Development of Marketing materials.
  • Involvement in developing a Program to communicate with alumni and donors regularly.
  • Evaluate the ESO Summer Staff recruiting process, making recommendations to enhance the program’s effectiveness.
  • Evaluate Summer Staff and create programs to identify individuals with the potential to become full-time members of the Eagle Sky staff and long-term Eagle Sky Alumni.  
  1. Financial Development:
  • Involvement in the Development of Building and Cultivating a Broad Donor Base.
  • Involvement in the Development and Implementation of Fund-Raising Programs.
  • Involvement in the Development of a Grant application program.
  1. Volunteer Development:
  • Make recommendations to the CEO for developing a Volunteer Program.
  • Evaluation of Volunteer Policies and Implementation.
  1. Qualifications:
  • Accredited 4-year college degree, preferably in Human Resources.
  • Must obtain any necessary certifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices.
  • Experience with human resources information systems.
  • Preferably experience in the nonprofit sector of the Camp Industry. 

CAMP HOUSING:

  • The Director of Human Resources may or may not live on Eagle Sky Property. Negotiable.  

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours in a salaried exempt role.
  • Ability to be ambulatory in a camp setting.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

COMPENSATION:

  • Base Salary:  To be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.
  • Benefits:  Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, IRA Retirement Matching.
  • Housing:  May or may not be on Camp Property.  Negotiable. 
  • Vacation Time and Paid Time Off.
